the principal aim of the exhibition is to explain scientific concepts through questions that arise from the observations of phenomenons that occur around us. the beach occupies a very special place in the mind set of almost all of the portuguese and therefore it is the ideal scenario to realize our proposal. the exhibition can be inserted in any hall, with its own boundaries and flooring, the latter being raised. in this way, the exhibition has its own identity, independent of the space in which it is inserted. the 'constructed body', of the exhibition consists of modular elements to allow it to adapt to spaces with different proportions. the entrance side of the exhibition is open, giving visitors a glimpse of what the space offers them. the machines that are necessary for the functioning of the modules are located outwith the limits of the exhibition. electricity, air and water service connections are located below the raised floor. the exhibition is organised into three thematic areas, where the modules are located, all of which remind us of the three elements that define the beach: the sand (earth), the sea (water), and the sky (air). there is a box associated with each one that makes reference to a type of human perception: heat, sound and light. the modules within which visitors realise experiences, the majority of which are interactive, are laid out to define the space and circulation in the thematic areas. the exhibition has a spatial continuity and the areas are defined by the difference in floor height, the position of the boxes and the modules. these are also associated with distinct colours, sounds and smells, which identify them. in reference to the gangways on our beaches, on top of the dunes, there is a timber plank floor guiding element throughout the exhibition, which establishes a relationship between the spaces, resolving the different floor heights and defining the advised journey for the visitor.
