with this project it was necessary to design a building that was able to adapt to the extreme topography, a site with a 40% slope and, being located within an area of banal buildings close to st fruitós de bages, had personality. the building is seen as a tectonic volume that emerges from the ground. therefore some important decisions were made: - the height of the building does not exceed that of the access at street level. - the treatment of solid and void is taken from this tectonic character, with a restricted number of large openings expressed as ‘bites’ or extractions around which the internal layout is organised. - the floor level of the house corresponds with the exterior levels and platforms, with the living area at garden level. The garden then becomes an extension of the house. the internal route is from above down and is what structures the house. at street level there is an area to park vehicles. external stairs direct you to the entrance doors at level -1. on this level the vestibule and the garage are found along with the bedrooms, which have generous views and are isolated from the most public part of the house. from the entrance, stairs cross a double height space and arrive in the living room below, the central space of the house which opens out onto the garden. at the same level, an integrated body housing the bathroom and kitchen separates off the dining room, the most intimate and secluded part of the house. finally some external stairs set within the volume of the house, take you down to the lower level of the garden, which is wilder and less manicured in treatment and a small space independent of the house.
